Welding Turntables: Functions and Applications

A Short Discussion on the Work of Industrial Welding Turntables

A welding turntable works the same way for all pieces of work, no matter how large or small. They create a plane for a rotation that is perpendicular to the floor. Welding Turntables can hold large amounts of tooling. They can be more than a rotating table. The static torque output limits determine its capacity. It can spin at high speeds while weighing a considerable amount.

It’s a hard and dangerous job. Welding Turntables can drop the effort and the risk.

What is the Function of a Welding Turntable?

The welding turntables works by grasping onto a valve or pipe joint and rotating the workpiece as necessary so that the welder can continue to weld the joint flat. This allows the welder not to have to move the torch or electrode-holder around the joint to keep the weld pool in place.

Because they make it easier to see the welding seams on the pipeline, welding positioners can be useful for increasing weld deposition rates and decreasing rejection rates. The welding gripper, or welding positioner, assists the operator in welding at higher speeds than is possible with either a semi-automatic or manual setup.

How to Use a Welding Turntable Properly

Safety is the number one priority when operating a welding turntable. You must ensure that your welding turntables is secure to a stable, flat surface.

Also, make sure to read the specifications of your welding turntables. The size and speed of the required operation for the welder determine the motor and control. Refer to the specifications to find out if the welding positioner is capable.

During welding, a ground current must also be connected to the welding turntables. It is important to have it connected during welding. Without it, electric parts could be damaged. It is also important to ensure that the rotary weld positioner can work with the electricity generated by welding.

Tips to Use When Working with Welding Rotator

These are the things workers need to remember when welding on a welding rotator.

The center of gravity (CoG).:

This is where the object’s mass is located. When choosing the position weld, you should consider the center gravity of the workpiece, along with its weight and size. This will ensure that the workpiece is balanced on all axes. This determines the rotation speed of the table. CoG will change if the welder adds different weights or sizes to the welding rotator.

Proper attachment of the workpiece:

This is how the workpiece will be attached to the welding rotator. Unique production fixtures are required for certain tasks that must be repeated to produce parts for common applications. A three-jaw chuck can be used to attach the positioner to round-shaped workpieces. Some pieces must be bolted. This should be determined based on the size and shape of the piece.

A flat, even surfaces:

Make sure that the entire weld positioning unit is placed on a flat and even surface. The workpiece could fall off and cause injury.

Here are a few reasons to use Welding Turntables

Welding Turntables offer many benefits beyond the increased comfort for the worker. These are just a few:

  • Higher quality: Setting a welding rotator improves accuracy. This means there is less chance of an error by a worker.
  • Safety for workers: Welding rotators are designed to ensure workers are safe. The positioner ensures that the workpiece is securely anchored so it doesn’t move. If we sling or chain the part, it is safer to anchor it.
  • Reducing fatigue: The welding rotator design allows workers to stand and work in one place. It adjusts to the worker’s height and comfort. This will reduce fatigue and strain, which would improve productivity.
  • Small footprint These welding rotator devices can be used in tight spaces to reduce clutter and make it easier to move around on the production floor.
  • Semi-Automatic Functioning: Welding rotator machines can be used to connect to a power source. This increases the speed of the welder and, in turn, productivity.

What Are the Different Applications for Welding Turntables?

Many industries require welding or fabrication. Weld positioners are used frequently. These are just a few of the many applications of weld positioning:

  • Rotary positioning
  • Rotation of parts to be assembled
  • Mounting welding equipment
  • Welding shafts, wheels, and pipes
  • Rotating workpieces that are heavy on offset loads

You should only source genuine manufacturers and suppliers if you need rotary weld positioner devices for industrial applications. Purple engineering is a leading supplier of industrial metal welding machinery. The company offers weld positioners in different specifications to suit customer needs.
